The Capri's Final Season
1994 Mercury Capri Convertible Series III

In its final year of production, Ford integrated may changes into the Capri addressing many of the suggestions from critics and owners alike:

1994 The "Series III" car with several body and suspension changes was introduced for the Capri's final season.

These changes make it easy to tell the 1994 Capri from earlier models: Front and rear bumpers were new for both models - including a redsigned "euro" style new tail light design. The word "CAPRI" was also embossed in the rear bumper following design cues from other ford vehicles such as the Mustang.
The XR2 also received new ground effects and a "euro"style rear "lip" spioler with integrated third brake
Again, all 1994 models had "Capri" embossed in rear bumper.
A body color coordinated exterior trim replaced the previous red and grey accent trim.
Attractive, modern looking, five spoke 14" alloy wheels were made standard on the base model, while the XR2 recieves standard seven spoke 15" alloy wheels & tires to match.
Interior changes were abundant with black trim and black carpeting replacing gray as the standard interior color.
Black cloth seats were standard equipment while black leather, "Recarro" insired/styled seats were made standard on the XR2.
An air conditioning system using the more ozone-friendly R134 refrigerant replaced the earlier conventional system.
The XR2 received an improved sports suspension featuring stiffer springs, a lowered front end, and articulated ball joints instead of rubber bushings at the anti-sway bar ends, and a faster steering ratio.

These changes produce a more sports car like feel.
The XR2 also received a "graphics" package - really just some XR2 decals in front of the rear wheel and a plastic badge on the rear tailight assembly.
Engine options were still the DOHC 1.6 liter in 100 HP normally aspirated and 132 HP turbo form.

Consequently 0-60 performance did not change much, but I imagine its' performance on slalom course did improve due to the introduction of the sport suspension.
